GREEN MAPS

Eco-shout has a dream to create an online map of Melbourne (bike-centric rather than car-centric) that will show the location of useful places around the CBD, including:

-indigenous place names
-environment groups and organisations
-organic groceries and markets
-food co-operatives

-op-shop and second hand shops
-vegetarian and vegan cafes and restaurants

We don't currently have the resources to carry out this project.
Can you help us make it happen?

FINDING STUFF
In the meantime, you can look up the address of environmental groups and organisations in the Active Groups pages of this website. You can look up the address of sustainable businesses such as those mentioned above in the Green Directory. You can type any address into Melways online maps to locate them online at: www.street-directory.com.au

GOOGLE EARTH
Also, have you discovered GoogleEarth yet?? It is awesome. You get a satellite image of the entire earth which you can swing around, pinpoint a location and then close up until you can practically see a single tree! And guess what, you can download it free (a limited version) off the internet. Go to www.googleearth.com

BIKE MAPS
Want to ride your bike around Melbourne without fear of immanent death? TravelSmart have started making Bike-centric maps for different areas in Melbourne, especially the inner city and around universities. TravelSmart Maps are available from the Information Victoria Bookshop at 356 Collins St, Melbourne or online at www.bookshop.vic.gov.au or by phoning 1300 366 356. Individual TravelSmart Maps for the Universities are also available from Student Information Centres on campus.

Bicycle Victoria is a bevy of information on bike maps. They have hard copy maps available at their office at: level 10, 446 Collins St, Melbourne. They'll even send you one if you call them on 8636 8888 or email them through their website.

For Bike-centric Melways Maps online that show you the location of on-road and off-road bike paths all over Victoria see Vic Roads
